Did you know that all Mediums are Psychic, but not all Psychics are Mediums? That is truly a profound statement, isn't it?
If you are just learning about the metaphysical world, and awakening, you may be scouring the internet, and books, to find information and it can make your head spin with how much is out there! There are two terms you are likely to run into, Psychic and Medium. You also, may be practicing and developing in your abilities and not fully understanding these terms. That's really okay, we all need to start somewhere.
It can get confusing to hear the terms, not really understanding what they mean and then trying to figure out, where you fit in with a label. I mean, sure, you may possess some psychic abilities, or mediumship characteristics, and then again, its possible to have both!
Let's start with exactly what they are, so you can understand easily. If you choose to label yourself, you'll certainly have the idea of what characteristics and qualities you have and can then label accordingly.
Psychic: Refers to receiving intuition. It also means that you are connecting intuitively, using what we call Extra Sensory Perception, or ESP. This is a combination of using your intuition with logic. You may hear information coming through as your own voice, which is your higher self. Psychics use ESP to discuss someone's life with them, covering areas in love, relationships, finances, career, medical and legal. Some psychics, but not all, may choose to work with the future or the past with their client's readings.
Medimship: Involves connecting with Spirit, whereby the medium is the direct link between the Spirit realm and the client. In mediumship, there is no use of intuition or psychic abilities. It is strictly the pure link to those on the other side, and information is provided from those the medium is connected with. Some mediums hear information in their own voice, while others can hear information in other's voices, by mind's eye or feeling, etc. The medium will then work with the Spirit to find out information such as how they passed or gather information that will help confirm to the client, it is indeed, their loved one.
When using the two abilities together, you are gather information from your own intuition and logic, as well as from Spirit. Using the two together can be a bit confusing, but practicing helps you learn to decipher where the information is coming from.
Now that you have an understanding of what both terms are, and you choose to label yourself or your abilities in the future, you may choose accordingly. You may ask, why label yourself at all? Well, it stands to reason, that at some point in the future, you may open a spiritual business of your own. Knowing how to direct potential clients and advertising, you'll need to give a description so they can decide whether or not to work with you.
